The study carried out at Havutlu Health Center of Çukurova University Medical Faculty, Doğankent Health, Education and Research Area Public Health Department aimed at determining hepatitis B and seroprevalance among 10 yearold and older people and affecting risk factors. Totally 10-year old and older people living at localities of Havutlu Primary Health Center Area were stratified according to localities and age groups and than randomly selected. The male to female ratio of participating people were 162:139. Each participant being found positive for HBsAg and anti-HCV by ELISA performed at the first step of the research underwent further scanning for anti-HBs, antiHBc, anti-HBc IgM, HBeAg and anti-HBe. The frequencies of HBsAg positivity were found to be 5.3% and 0.7%, respectively. The frequency of HBsAG positivity was found to be significantly higher at the age group of 30 to 49 years (11.5%) than at other age groups. HBsAg positivity showed no statistically significant difference according to sex, educational status, monthly family income and number of house-hold persons. Exposure to secretions from patients with jaundice showed statistically signicant relation to the positivity of HBsAg.
