The purpose of this study is to present the clinical picture in pancytopenic brucellosis cases. Among 86 patients diagnosed to have brucellosis at the Hospital of Meram Faculty of Medicine and Konya Numune Hospital, Konya, Turkey, in the 1998-2005 period, pancytopenia was found in 9 of the cases. All 86 patients had clinical symptoms with standard tube agglutination test positivity, and blood culture was positive in 22.2 %. In 6 of the pancytopenic patients the route of infection transmission was determined, and all of these patients had fever. Doxycycline + rifampin therapy was given to 7 patients, and 2 patients with articular involvement received doxycycline + streptomycin therapy. After therapy the leucocyte, thrombocyte and hemoglobulin values of all patients returned to normal levels. No relaps was detected in one year follow-up.
