Although Brucella spp. cause abortion in animals, its role in the etiology of abortion in humans is still not clear. In this paper, two pregnant women with brucellosis who had spontaneous abortion in the first trimester are reported. In both patients the serum agglutinin titers were high (1/2560) and blood cultures were positive for Brucella. Spontaneous abortion occurred on the fifth day of treatment in the first case and on the seventeenth day of treatment in the second case. During the follow-up of these two patients no relaps of brucellosis was observed.
