The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of Brucella canis infection in man in the Konya Province, Turkey, in the
April-October 2008 period. The sero-diagnosis of B. canis infection in man can only be made by using antigen obtained from Rtyped
brucella. Antibody responses to R-type agent (B. canis) or S-typed agents (Brucella melitensis, Brucella abortus or Brucella
suis) in 76 serum samples were investigated by Rapid Slide Agglutination Test (RSAT) and Modified Plate Agglutination Test
(MPAT) for R-typed agent and Rose Bengal Plate Test (RBPT) and Serum Agglutination Test (SAT) for S-typed agents. Seroprevalance
of the population in respect to B. canis and S-typed Brucellae antibodies were found %9.2 and %0, respectively. This is
the first serologic report on B. canis infection in man in the Konya Province, Turkey.
