The ratio of volunteer blood donation to general population leads to 5 % in such countries while this ratio is about %1.5 in Turkey. The aim of this public survey study was to evaluate the knowledge, behavior and attitude of the people about blood donation and to determine the ways to increase blood donation rates. A public survey with 20 questions was carried out in 3479 individuals from different social sections and occupations. While the “yes” answer rate was %31.3 for the question; “Would you like to donate?” at the begining of the interrogation, than the “yes” answer rate was increased to %43.5 at the final question for each individual (p<0.05).
