The purpose of this study was to determine the incidence of enteric pathogens, particularly of Helicobacter spp. in gastroenteritis. Between October 2000 and February 2001, stool samples from 367 subjects of various age with diarrhea were examined to determine the incidence of Campylobacter infection. Enteric pathogens were isolated from 17 o patients with diarrhea. Campylobacter species were isolated in two specimens one of which was identified as C. jejuni and the other as C. coli. In the same period, the percentages of Shigella (3) and Salmonella (12) isolation from fecal samples were 0.81% nd 3.26%, respectively.
